Stained glass applique technique
I use “snapshot view” images in my work, focussing on detailed drawings and colour studies from my garden. I love to capture the essence of a scene by pruning out unnecessary visual information, and the linear qualities of the stained glass technique suit this. To obtain the vibrancy and variations of colour, I hand dye and block / silk screen print the fabrics (excepting black). To increase the richness of colours in the hand quilting and to add visual contrasts, I have hand dyed the embroidery threads.
